Don Bradman was the first Australian to hit 100 First-Class centuries. Batting on the Sydney Cricket Ground on 15 November 1947, he was on 99 runs when he hit Indian leg-spin bowler Gogumal Kishenchand to the leg-side for a single to bring up this incredible milestone. It was Bradman’s 295th innings. The previous record-holder Wally Hammond of England had taken 679 innings to achieve his 100th hundred.

‘I think of all my experiences in cricket that was the most exhilarating moment on the field. The huge crowd gave me a reception which was moving in its spontaneous warmth.’
